Student Pass |
|
5.2.1 |
Submit application to
College at least 8 weeks before new intake date. Upon
receiving admission documents, College will apply Student
Pass with Immigration Department of Malaysia. The process
will take 4 to 5 weeks. For transfer application (if you
have studied at another college in Malaysia), please
provide a letter of transfer / release from your former
College. Upon acceptance, you will receive Offer Letter in
2 to 3 weeks. |

5.2.2 |
International student must
pay all fees for first semester before Offer Letter is
issued for immigration purposes, and pay Student Bond as a
security deposit during stay in Malaysia. Amount depends
on country of origin. This deposit is fully refundable to
student upon course completion. Please refer to Student
Bond Rates below.

Before You Leave Home! |

5.4.1 |
Visa will be issued promptly
by Malaysian Government if applicants meet the entry
requirements set by Immigration Department. Student must
have:
(a) Passport with 5 years validity
(b) Student Pass
(c) Multiple Entry Visa |

International student must
apply for Student Pass to study in Malaysia. Student Pass
is applied in Malaysia by College. You must provide the
following for Student Pass application:
(a) 2 photocopies of Passport
(b) 3 photographs (passport size)
(c) 1 Immigration Form (Imm.14) [Form provided by College] |

Upon approval of Student
Pass, College will send you Malaysia Immigration Office
Approval Letter. If you must obtain Entry Visa before
leaving your country, please apply at Malaysian Embassy /
Consulate Office. Otherwise, you may enter Malaysia
without Visa. Upon your arrival in Malaysia, Visa is
issued to you with a RM500 payment to Malaysian
Immigration as processing fee for Journey Performed Visa.
To ease Immigration clearance, please produce Approval
Letter upon arrival. |

Single Entry Visa
(Applicable only for Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Cuba,

For students without
passport
Once you receive our Offer Letter and obtain passport from
relevant authorities in your country, fax us a photocopy
of passport (all stamped pages) OR send us 3 photocopies
of passport (all stamped pages) by mail. |

5.4.5.2 |
For students with
passport
Once your documents are complete and in order, you will
receive our Offer Letter. With photocopy of your passport,
College will then apply for approval (for international
student to study in Malaysia) from Malaysian Immigration. |

5.4.5.3 |
Once College obtains
approval from Malaysian Immigration, we will send you
Approval Letter. Bring Offer Letter, Approval Letter and
your passport when you do your Single Entry Visa
endorsement at Malaysian Embassy / Consulate in your
country. |

5.4.5.4 |
Citizens of nations other
than those stated above (except Serbia Montenegro and
Israel) are allowed to enter Malaysia for Social and
Business visit not exceeding one month without having
Visa. All international students should inquire at the
nearest Malaysian Diplomatic Mission / Embassy / Consulate
at own country for the latest entry procedures and
requirements. |

Multiple Entry Visa
You need to surrender your passport to International
Office within 3 days after arrival in Malaysia.
International Office will help you apply to State
Immigration for your Multiple Entry Visa and Student Pass.
Upon arrival at College, you
must present passport to College Administration for
issuance of Student Visa. Please refer to College Students
Handbook governing academic rights and obligations during
your tenure of study. |

The Environment |

5.5.1 |
Malaysia
Located north of the equator, Malaysia comprises thirteen
states and two Federal Territories, the capital city of
Kuala Lumpur and Labuan. Its neighbour countries are
Singapore to the south, Thailand to the north and Brunei
and Indonesia to the east.
The population of Malaysia
is close to 24 million people with multi races, religion
and custom. Malay is the majority ethnic with 33% Chinese
and 9% Indian the next largest ethnic groups. Other
minority groups are Kadazan, Dusun, Iban, Dayak and other
indigenous races. Even though each of these racial groups
retains and nurtures their individual customs, traditions
and lifestyles, they nevertheless exist in perfect
harmony.

Genting Highlands
Developed in 1965, it is
today the premier integrated family holiday resort in
Malaysia, drawing visitors from the region for its cool
weather, lush forests and wide range of recreational
activities for the family at 2,000 metres above sea level.
On a clear night, one can see the lights on Genting
Highlands twinkling in the sky from Kuala Lumpur, a
reminder that Genting is a mere hour's drive from the
city.The fun never ends. At
Genting, the indoor and outdoor theme parks house a number
of rides ranging from the leisurely ones to the
heart-pumping, high adrenaline types. Inside its resort,
the activities continue with bowling, snooker,
horse-riding, jungle trekking, golfing, swimming at the
indoor heated pool and having a game or two at the
resplendent Casino de Genting.
Genting Highlands Resort
is also suitable for conventions with its world-class
facilities. With more than 7,000 rooms and apartments at
Genting Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Resort Hotel, Theme Park
Hotel, Awana Golf & Country Resort, Ria and Kayangan
Apartments, Genting Highlands has a place for every
visitor.
Genting's biggest
highlight. The opening of the world's largest hotel - the
First World Hotel, consists of two blocks with a total of
6300 rooms that can accommodate more than 12,000 guests
alone. First World Hotel will indeed be the biggest hotel
in the world. This hotel will also house the Genting
International Convention Center that has a total area of
106,000 square feet. In addition to the convention area,
there is the Grand Ballroom that can accommodate 3200
people in theater style seating. It will be the largest
column free hall in Malaysia. This hotel, nestled 2000
meters above the sea level, carpeted by lush green
forests, one will find these wide-assortment of
attractions and entertainment a delightful discovery for
the whole family.

Genting Inti International
College (GIIC)
GIIC, set in the cooling
township of Bandar Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands, offers
an invigorating atmosphere to complement the educational
and professional experience delivered to its students. Its
campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities
including classrooms, computer labs, a resource centre
with Internet access, kitchens, a mock-up hotel room, and
even an operational restaurant opened to the public. The
College also provides a hostel for its students, including
a 24-hour security service. |

Climate
Tropical climate with two distinct seasons - dry season
occurs during the southwest monsoon from May to September
and rainy season occurs during the northeast monsoon from
November till March. As GIIC is set at the cool highland,
most days are chilling and with temperatures ranging from
22-32° Celsius. During the night, temperature can drop to
18°C. We suggest you bring some sweaters or lightweight
jacket to keep warm during the night. |

People
Malaysia comprises Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sikh,
Portuguese, Dutch, Eurasian and many other ethnic origins.
This comes as a result of a rich history resulting in a
true melting pot of the different races. You will find
that people respect each other and are aware of the
different cultural practices. The same diversity in
Malaysians can be found at GIIC. Get to know the different
races that make up the unique Malaysian culture. |

Language
Bahasa Malaysia (the Malay language) is the national
language but English, Mandarin, Tamil and other Chinese
dialects are also widely spoken. All subjects conducted in
GIIC are in English but you will find different students
speaking various tongues during their leisure times. |

Religion
Although the official religion is Islam, other ethnic
groups are free of their religious beliefs and practises.
There are many Christian and Catholic churches, Buddhist
and Hindu temples in addition to the mosques. And, most of
the religious festivals are gazetted public holidays and
are celebrated nationwide. |

Transportation & Travel
GIIC is located in
Gohtong Jaya, a township in Genting Highlands, Pahang. It
is easily accessible to Genting Highlands Resorts and
Awana Golf & Country Resort via free shuttle buses and
cable cars. The capital city, Kuala Lumpur is less than an
hour's drive and accessible via public buses or taxis at
very reasonable rate. |

Food
Food is easily available and economical. There are wide
varieties of cuisine from all over the world. Malaysian
food is generally spicy but there are also light
delicacies. Malaysians are not a fussy lot when it comes
to food so there are roadside stalls, 5 star restaurants,
and everything else that comes in between. GIIC restaurants
serve a large variety of local and Western cuisine. |

Currency
Malaysian currency is Ringgit Malaysia (RM). Currency
notes are in denominations of RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10 , RM50
and RM100. Coins are in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50,
100 sen (cents). Foreign currencies and traveler cheques
can be changed at banks or authorized moneychangers
throughout the country. Major credit cards are accepted
countrywide. |

Employment
Employment without a work permit is not permitted under
Malaysian Immigration Law. However, employment in the form
of Industrial Training, which is part of the academic
Programme, is permissible. International students are
eligible for certain on-campus jobs up to 20 hours per
week. On-campus work, however, does not need approval from
the Immigration. |

Students are required to purchase a group insurance plan
for personal accident and medical expenses covered for
students. |
